Mares, foals, weanlings and yearlings can be agisted all year round. All are wormed and vaccinated regularly. Many mares just come to visit during the stud season to be served by our resident stallions or via semen transport. Because good nutrition is such an important part of equine health, agistment rates can vary according to seasonal conditions.

It is important to give every mare the best possible chance to conceive. We employ our own vet on contract basis to keep veterinary costs down. A flat fee for reproduction work for the season covers all ultrasound scans, inseminations, pregnancy tests etc. Treatment for illness, injury, drugs and any specialised uterine treatments will be charged under separate account at the cheapest possible price.
Ashbrook Stud is pleased to have the services of veterinary surgeon George Corones, of Bathurst Vet Hospital, to oversee the health of all equine residents and visitors to the stud.
The stud will continue to employ a nightwatchman during the stud season to assist each mare in foaling. A trained professional ensures that foals get their required colostrum within four hours of foaling and then feed regularly every two hours.
At weaning foals are taught to tie up, lead and generally be handled.
Peter Turnbull will continue to prepare quality yearlings for sale.
Computer test matings for your mare can be completed free of charge.
Freeze branding by the GHRRA is carried out at the stud regularly during the stud season.

A very successful semen transport service has been established to all states of Australia. Semen is sent by overnight courier to most destinations. Vets and studs receiving semen for mares must be registered with the applicable state harness racing authority. Costs for carriers vary according to day of the week, urgency and destination. Semen can be ordered from any interstate stallions as required. A one-off semen transport working fee applies.
Can be ordered from selected stallions throughout Australia.
