Planchet is a beautifully conformed, athletic looking son of former champion Australasian 2YO of his year – and subsequent highly successful sire – Canny Lad. A precocious 2YO, Canny Lad won eight races including the Golden Slipper (1200 metres) at Rosehill and the Sires Produce (1400 metres) at Flemington, both at Group 1 level. As an early 3YO, he ran a great third in the Cox Plate to Japan Cup winner Better Loosen Up and Caulfield Cup winner Sydeston.
